Dehydrated skin

Causes

Skin is our body’s water tank. Physiologically, water is stored in our dermis but it does not settle there for a long period of time. Part of this water goes up to the surface of the body, evaporating. The cornea layer (waterproof most upper layer of the skin) as well as the hydro-lipidic film, are two barriers set by our organism to restrain this evaporation. However, when this physiological protection is altered, the water evaporation gets more important and leads to a dehydration episode.

Skin dehydration can be physiological, but can also be caused by different factors, such as wind and cold, pollution, UV or even medicine.

How to take care of it?

In order to fight against skin dehydration, and in addition to adapted hygiene and diet measures, the application of cosmetic moisturizing products will have a positive effect on the state of the skin. These cares will rehydrate the skin thanks to agents that are moisturizing, moistening and sometimes anti-dehydrating.

Health tips :

Drink large quantities of water or herbal tea, and avoid water that it is too hot or too hard, overheated atmospheres or air-conditioning and long sun exposures.

Beauty tips :

Moisturize your face and body every day, once or twice a day, because a well-hydrated skin has a smoother surface and captures the light better. Apply your moisturizing care on a perfectly clean and dry skin, without forgetting the neck, by soft circular massages during one minute, downwards moving upwards, and from the centre towards the sides. Wait a little before using any make-up. And once or twice a week, use a moisturizing mask.
